Wat Pa Pao’s Poi Sang Long festivities are a three-day exhibition of joy. Soon-to-be novices ride the backs of their friends and relatives and rival rainbows with their multi-coloured finery.

Friendly families warmly welcome the few foreign visitors in the temple and invite them into the non-stop celebration.

If you enter the temple and can’t hear drumming or see families dancing, you entered while the caravan dances at another temple or have happened upon one of the serious moments of educating the new novices, or you missed the festival.
