Fort Canning Park

Size: 4 items | Post to del.icio.us

Another of Singapore's historic areas, Fort Canning Park lies on top of a small hill that has had a significant military history. It served as a home to the British army until World War II where the hill was used as a base of operations for forces attempting to defend the island from Japanese Invasion. The Japanese, once they had occupied Singapore, also used the fort for its army.

Today, a primary draw for visitors to the hill is the Battle Box, the bunker used by the British army that now serves as a museum detailing the history of the war in Singapore.
