A-Bomb Dome

Size: 6 items

On August 6, 1945, the history of Hiroshima and the world was changed by a flash of atomic light that burst above the city to claim tens of thousands of lives. That flash originated almost directly above the city's Industrial Promotion Hall reducing it to its current ruined state.

Preserved, the hall is now known as the A-bomb dome and it stands as a symbol of the destruction witnessed on that day. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the A-bomb Dome stands across from the Peace Memorial Park and it's ruined form is a silent reminder of a tragedy that can be avoided in the future.
